HP G61-511WM Laptop I need a loadable AHCI driver so that I can install windows 7x64 on this thing. My friend handed my this laptop, yes it was a walmart laptop. He had no idea what was wrong with it.
My friend handed my this laptop, yes it was a walmart laptop. He had no idea what was wrong with it, but he had removed the harddrive to replace a dead one from another laptop. So, no harddrive. After tinkering around with it for a while I finally noticed what was wrong, fixed it, replaced a bad ram chip, and vwalla. It worked.
Hp Pavilion G6 Sata Ahci Controller Driver
Now I have a problem: The only harddrive I have laying around, is an extra solid state drive that I had purchased initially for my desktop. It is a Mushkin Callisto Deluxe 40GB. This laptop isn't exactly anything to write home about, but I figure it could be useful on occasion. It's got HDMI after all, that's always a perk. My HP Elitebook 2740p doesn't even have that. :/ If anything, I could use it as a net-box for my TV.
Problem starts with the BIOS. This is the most basic BIOS I've ever had the misery of dealing with. There are no actual options to toggle, so naturally there's no AHCI option. I understand that this is a walmart model laptop, but seriously... this is just ridiculous.
Without an AHCI option, I can't install windows 7 on the ssd.
I managed to update the bios from 363F F.03 to 363F F.15.
I have used the shift+f10 menu in an attempt to diskpart.
Hp Proliant Smart Array Sas/sata Controller Driver For Windows
What it comes down to, is that I can't find this dang driver. The AMD website only has an .exe format for the drivers, which basically says 'install windows, then install the drivers that you need to install windows'. I need the AHCI DRIVER... not an EXE.
Thanks for any help, and here's the specs:
